First attracted to house music in 1985, Oscar P is recognized as an innovator and force in New York City's music scene. His musical style fuses influences not only from NYC, but also from the Chicago House and Detroit Techno sounds. His unique blend that can be heard on remixes for such artists as Omar, Adele, Jamiroquai, Soul Minority, Simone Moreno, Distant People, Foremost Poets, Black Fras, Todd Terry, Physics, and Marvin Gaye.

His record labels Open Bar Music and Kolour Recordings are rooted in a strong tradition of featuring creative DJs, performers, and musicians from the ever growing deep, afro house and electronic music scene. The labels continue to build a cultural impact that reach as far as Germany, London, Spain, and other parts of the globe. Artists as diverse as KiNK, Soul Minority, Kruse & Nuernburg, and Delano Smith have appeared on both labels over the past 6 years. Artists like Jimpster, Steve Bug, Cajmere, Detroit Swindle, and MotorCitySoul are among their supporters.
